As a city transplant who has lived in beautiful Berkshire County, MA for nearly 30 years, I appreciate the sense of community and willingness of people to step up in a time of need. With the COVID-19 threat escalating in our area and throughout the world, businesses and nonprofits are adapting to this new reality. People are looking out for one another and coming together to address this challenging time.
These are some of the local efforts that I truly admire and appreciate:
Two of my clients, Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation and Berkshire United Way, have joined up with other local funders to offer the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund. Operating grants of up to $25,000 are being awarded to address gaps in services and help frontline human service organizations meet the most basic needs Berkshire County residents. This was not only a quick response to an urgent need, but the funding is being awarded very quickly.
